Adam,

You raised the CR when you shaved the head. Do you use high test? The
alternative is to retard it a bit more or you may want to try a 160
thermostat.

The head doesn't have to be removed to replace the seals. They can do it
with the head on but it is easier to do it with the head off. Guides are
probably a little worn too.
