Volvo brakes are a very interesting set up. They do have 4 pots on each
front, and 2 in the rear, disks all around. The master cylinder is a dual
set up with both halves being the same size. They plumb each side of the
master to 2 pots on each front wheel and to one of the rear wheels. This
allows both front brakes and one rear brake to work if something goes wrong
with the other circuit. There is also a proportioning valve in line with
each rear wheel. If you don't know that the proporting valve is there and
you get air in the lines at the master cylinder you can pump forever and
not get the rear brakes to bleed! Have to bleed at the proportioning valves
first, then the rear wheels! The valves are located under the rear seat,
next to the fuel pump.

The calipers that I understand can be used on our roadsters are from the
240 and 260 series. Do not try the calipers that are on the 260's with
vented rotors, they are too thick.

There may be interference between the calipers and the road wheels which
may be able to be taken care of by grinding away some of the excess metal
on the calipers. I have a sheet somewhere that says how much and where,
but I haven't seen it in years. If anyone needs the information I will try
to locate it. As I recall I got it out of a catalog from IPD in Oregon
(www.ipdusa.com), but that was many years ago, so that information may be
gone from the company.

Peace,
Pat
