 The flywheel has to have locating dowels to maintain concentricity with th=
e clutch housing.The dowels don't normally get any shear load on them, they=
 aren't drive-dogs, the bolt clamping force holds it all in place and clamp=
ed down tight.Yes hard shims, soft can crush down and lose bolt torque afte=
r awhile.
If the PP loosens up, the locating dowels won't do much to keep it from com=
ing apart...
