All I can say is if you live in California, do not... I REPEAT DO
NOT... park your car on the street in Berkeley.  The meter nazis will
first ticket your car even if the meter still shows 30 seconds left
and if they don't like your fancy Healey, they will give you a fix it
ticket for the front plate just to be bastards.  Then you'll have to
go to DMV (wait 4 hours in line) to demonstrate you have two plates. 
If you only have one plate (the rear one) then you are completely
screwed and you will have to get new reflective plates for your car,
which will look stupid because they aren't period plates, but heck....
are probably safer.
