Greetings from New Zealand

I am now on to the TD engine. Head is off getting reconditioned and I have
stripped the block down. My car has the original engine with the correct
number. Before I send the block off for bead blasting and degunging of the
waterways I was thinking I should remove the octagonal brass plate with the
number on it so it does not get damaged. Is this easy? It seems to be held
on with a large central rivet and there is a little tit on the inside of the
crankcase.

Second question. The ring gear on the flywheel is knackered. I have a
Wolseley 4/44 flywheel with a good ring gear that looks identical except it
has a W on it instead of an M. Can I use this? I was going to get it
lightened anyway.

Any and all advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Douglas
