pulled the starter and nothing. Checked it out and no lights, no clock,

When the engine is off, or the generator is not charging all of the
power through the vehicle passes from the battery through the starter
switch. The one or two browns at the switch provide power for all
vehicle accessories and the heavy cable from the switch to the starter
provides the power for the starter.

So, the problem lies either in the battery or the connections from the
battery to ground or to the starter switch.

You stated that the battery tests at twelve volts. That doesn't mean it
can deliver the amperage needed to run anything. Think of 9 NEW AAA
batteries (actually cells) connected in series. They will read twelve
volts but cannot provide the amperage to run anything on the car except
perhaps the coil.

1) Clean all the terminals at the battery.
2) Make sure the terminals are clean at the starter switch.
3) Make sure the ground strap is clean at the body.

My bet is the battery is bad.

Blake
