MG TD engines take two types of spark plugs. According to the manuals,
engines prior to 22735 take plugs with 1/2" reach while later engines
take plugs with 3/4" reach.

My car:

Engine 28648
Car 28177

Based on these numbers I ordered spark plugs from Moss Motors and got
the 3/4" reach N5C plugs (Moss part 152-120).

However, I immediately noticed something wrong when I pulled the old
plugs. The plugs currently in the car seem to be the 1/2" reach plugs!
I've been running the car that way for over four years and the previous
owner for who knows how long.

So, my question is, are the current 1/2" reach plugs the wrong ones and
how can I safely tell? I would imagine if I put in the 3/4" plugs and
they are too long they would impact the cylinder, which obviously would
not be a good thing.
