actually have to do anything other than fill up with premium unleaded -
certainly valve life will be shortened but how much are you driving the
car anyway? - Neither my 70 or 72 have hardened valves nor have they had
any lead substitute in many thousands of miles - the 69 (which has the
best engine by far) is unknown as its never been apart since ive had it.
I seem to recall that octane ratings are not the same in the US as other
places and the highest rating you can buy is 93 - the cars run fine on 89
or even 87 (which is the lowest rating we get around here)

I rather suspect the "serious problem" is put around by people who sell
valves and lead substitute!

Now - who has a contrary point of view??!!!
