I think it will depend on your tune and fuel, I can imagine that cars that were 
supplied with them really do need them.  My 73 roadster tends to run-on after a 
run because the idle speed is highest then.  If I adjust it to the correct 
speed 
after a run so it doesn't run-on, it really starts to shudder if it has to idle 
for anything more than a couple of minutes.  I am thinking of investing in an 
after-market anti-run-on valve supplied by the MGOC.
