Hi all,

can anyone send me details on what to buy, or what to look for when buying
snow chains or cables?

Here in the Silicon Valley it got all cold all of a sudden like. Down here
in the valley still water like ponds and puddles were frozen, including some
overspray from a badly adjusted sprinkler on the road near my house (much to
the consternation of a Volvo driver who ended up in the central
reservation). Up in the hills around the valley there was at least 2 inches
of snow.

Now, as many list members can attest, MG's can go anywhere, so it was with
only a little trepidation that me and my fiancee set off to visit my friend
up in the hills. Things were okay until the compacted snow turned icy.
Needless to say it was a bit dicey getting up there and even more so getting
back, but we made it without incident.

Next time I'd like to get snow chains, but I have never used them before so
any and all advice would be appreciated. I have Yokohama A509 185/60R14
tyres on 5.5" 72 spoke chrome/stainless wire wheels.

I'm glad we came down when we did. Everything froze overnight, so he's
stuck up there so far today, and he has a 4WD Lexus LX300!
