Mike:
I do know that using the incorrect cleaning and/or oiling products
will kill a K&N filter. The rubber hardens and shrinks.
The paperwork I have here states NO strong detergents. I'd think if
you used a regular dish soap you would be ok, but I am no chemical engineer.
I would however think that "Simple Green" comes under the classification of
a "strong detergent".
My suggestion would be to use K&N filter oil to reoil the filter.
There is a long list of NEVER USE oils which seems to include just about
anything squeezed from a dinosaur.
What do I know, I used to use solvent to clean, air to dry and WD40
to reoil. Guess what, my filters all shrank. Live and learn.
