Early this summer road construction forced the diversion of traffic from a
highway through our semi-rural area that has 35/25 mph speed limits, lots of
crossroads, and many children on the roads. Many of the folks forgot that
they were not on the highway and continued to drive at 55/60. A couple of
calls to the sheriff's office and the officer's quickly slowed traffic by
their presence in the area (don't know if they actually gave any tickets).
I, for one, called them and thanked them for their prompt and effective
response and made sure they knew it was appreciated.
