"Jute" is the non-foam pad crap <g>. It leaves a stringy, fibrous residue.
Foam leaves, well, a foamy (?) residue... you know what I mean. Either way,
it's a PITA -- and either kind soaks up water and holds it against your
delicate floorpan. I like to be able to pull the carpet and pad and hang it
up to dry. Of course, some people never take the top down and therefore
don't worry about water in the cockpit. They might still leave a window open
or some punk could slash the top, though. And then there is consideration
for a future owner, which seems to seldom enter the picture... if truth be
told, we are all someone's DPO...
