On my 72 240Z, my mothers 77 Datsun 810, and my 81 Datsun pickup all use
resistance wire mounted inside the blower box.  There's an appropriate
hole in the box that the plate holding the resistance wire bolts onto
the box with the wires sticking inside.  Thus the wire is "air cooled"
and the heat, what little it is, is used also.

So, you might take a look at a heater from a Datsun vehicle.
