The big (door opening) lever should return to flush when let go, only the
smaller locking lever stays either side with the door fully shut. The parts
list doesn't show a separate spring on the opening rod, although there could
be one (2" long?) as part of the internal control assembly immediately
before the plastic block where the rod to the actual lock goes. But I'm not
sure whether you are having problems with the internal door opener not
returning or not working at all, or the internal lock not working.
