I owned a 1967 MGB that had  a 4 synchro and a tube type rear axle.  I 
know that it was imported from Germany in 1977 (probably by a US 
serviceman).  I also knew that the engine and transmission were OEM, so 
I concluded that it was a later model.  Sorry, I don't recall what the 
number was and I have since sold the car to an enthusiast in Brazil. Cheers.
