I was getting 75 running before I replaced the clutch in my 71MGB this winter.
After I put everything back together I was having problems with the oil
pressure reading. I'm pretty sure is was an electrical problem. The needle on
the guage would fluctuate between 50 and less than 0. (The needle would rise
to 0 with the key in the ignition and not running before. So I am assuming a
less than 0 reading means an elctrical problem) I may have cracked one of the
wires moving them out of the way to pull the engine. It was a very cold winter
in a not so warm garage. Right now I am getting 25 at idle and just over 50
running. Would a short cause the guage to display a lower reading? Are the
guages usually accurate, or should I even worry about it?

Thanks

Tim
