Eugene,
A few years back, here in California, they temporarily changed the smog laws
to bring older cars back into the smog compliance regulations. For about a
year and a half there were lots and lots of cars from 1968 through about
1980 that were for sale really really cheap because the owners couldn't
register them 'cause they'd removed all the smog gear. Your car may pass
your current smog test now as it is currently written and enforced, but
experience suggests you might not want to do anything to your engine's
systems that would preclude returning to "factory spec" at some time in the
future. Unless you can think of what else to do with an unregisterable MGB
besides sell it out of state at a huge loss. And just how many MGBs can you
sell in Montana?
