Since I wrote the page, I take small exception to your comments :-) 

I've had reasonable success with EZouts. That said, I am very
careful when I use them, consider them a tool of last resort, and
have broken off my share. 

As it says on the page, the straight shafted ones are better than
the spiral.

If, indeed, you are fortunate to be able to remove the shards
of the bolt by other means, go for it. That's not always the case.
