I've seen some brown Spits and they look very nice, especially when the paint
looks good. But if you want to turn heads and get admiring looks, paint it a
colour that appeals. BRG is for purists. Red is, by far, the most popular. White
isn't exciting. Burgundy not bad.
My 76 Spit was originally BRG and changed to red (Carmen? Signal?) by a PO. My
new paint job is red as well. It is not an original red but a GM colour that
really stands out against other original Spits.

On the seats: The later Spits had the hounds tooth centre strip. If you replace
it, you will find that you have to replace it again in a few years. It just
doesn't stand up. I recommend that you go with an all-vinyl seat cover kit. It
looks great on mine and will out-last the cloth by a long shot.
