I cannot be absolutely sure, but I seem to remember that the US market
cars used a white side/amber flasher lens up to but NOT INCLUDING the 1969
model year. At that point, the lenses were amber for both applications
(that part I'm sure of; I've still got my unmolested '69 Mk3 bonnet
intact, although the rest of the car is scattered throughout the barn). I
believe the home market cars continued the white side/amber flasher lens
at least through the end of the Mk3 run.

There were "all-clear" versions of this lamp, which was also used on the,
ahem, MGB (don't hit me). But I'd have to dig through parts books and
period photos to refresh my memory as to those all-clear lenses on the
early Mk3's.
