Which is also why if you have the option, get parts delivered to work as it
will often come quicker, as business addresses are on the regular delivery
routes. Even a small package may come quicker to a company reception than to a
home address, especially if you live in a remote area outside town. Plus
there's the advantage's Nolan noted below of the delivery hours. Sometimes
shipping may be chaeper if you tell them its a business address for delivery.
You can always try.

Freight deliveries are done during business hours. When done to a business the
business is open and ready for delivery. The business will usually have the
personnel and equipment necessary to remove and handle the freight. When
delivery is to a residental addressthe person often is not home during business
hours, involving the delivery company holding the merchandise and scheduling a
special delivery time. Residential addresses normally do not have the
equipment or the persons necessary to handle freight shipping.

The cost increase usually comes from the freight delivery company, and is being
passed through by VB.

Well, I can point to much worse here in the US. Like VB who charges more
on any large item that has to go motor freight to deliver to a home rather
than a business. Why would it cost more to deliver to my house than to the
garage 2 doors away??
