Mine is a 71, maybe someone on the list has a ID for a "stock" cylinder.
We could go to a machine shop and get them to bore it to a larger size.
Of course this would make the person who purchases a used Spit very angry if
not informed. That's where the DPU comes from.

I don't remember what year your car is, but I was able to get a rebuilt
master cylinder from Pep Boys for my 1980 for something like $170. That was
about two years ago. Shop it around and you may surprise yourself.

I've clobbered my share of bores trying to hone out damage. Something you
might want to investigate is the use of TR6 seals if you do oversize the
bore. I understand that the TR6 seals are slightly larger, and could work
then if you did over hone the bore. I 've heard NAPA plays badly with this
for Spitfire owners, using the same kit for both, giving Spitfire owners
seals that really won't fit in the stock bore. Something to consider and
possibly investigate.

I wouldn't recommend buying a used master cylinder from a swap meet. God
knows, I've bought enough of them that way in hopes of saving the cost of
buying a fresh one. Never did find one that worked worth a darn that way,
or was even very rebuildable. That includes my one brass sleeved one.
Spent way to many nickles trying to save a dime. :-)

I know I have a ridge about 3/4 of the way down the bore.
I don't want to hone the thing due to ID change, the way I look at it,
$30.00 a year Vs $300.00 for a new one. Looks like 10 years to me.
By the way, I use DOT 5, the only way to fly.
