We need to a bit careful on far east rubber bashing !

Japan killed a bunch of people about 50 years ago to GET far east rubber..
That's where 98% of ALL of it comes from.
Granted it's still in the tree !

What are you calling far east? Japanese cars like Honda and Toyota have
fine rubber components. Even cars like Kia and Dihatsu are fine with
regards to rubber. India is the only eastern nation I've learned to stay
shy of when it comes to rubber.

Where I do consistently see poor rubber is from Europe. As in oem parts for
BMW, Volvo, Mercedes, etc. The stuff breaks down in the few years you
already mentioned. Been that way for decades.

Haven't run into the radiator hose problem you mentioned, but then I've
never seen a reason to mail order them. In all the stores I've been in, I
don't think I've ever seen them without cords. Makes me wonder if the mail
order company is actually selling household plumbing drain hose as radiator
hose. Does it look like the stuff you see at Home Depot...? Regardless,
shame on the mail order company for shoddy practices.

it's even simpler than that! It's the cheap ass crap
far east rubber their making everything out of these days.
(our LBC parts AND other classic cars as well
even the Camaro and corvette people are complaining
about the same thing.)

A lot of the radiator hoses you'll get now (from the catalog
companies) don't even have cord in them. They're just rubber tubing.
Window seals, corner blocks, door handle seals, all
deteriorate in under two years.
