Well, adjustable roll bar,,,,,,,ehh....only in Canada, they say.........
We've made ours adjustable. In order to have the bar high enough to provide
some safety and STILL fit under the soft top of the Mk3, which is slightly
different from the 1500 rag top, we had no choice but to design a roll bar
that is attached to a bracket, which can be folded forward and unbolted when
we need to put up the top.
The set-up works, but it's not without some difficulties. You will read about
it if those *embarrassing stories* will ever be published in Nass Notes. I
always have * some fun*, trying to put the top up in a hurry. The entire thing
is such a tight squeeze and it involves moving the seats forward, then dealing
with bolts that always seem to be somewhat stuck. There's just barely enough
space to pull the top over the folded forward bar. Someday, I'll get the order
of Canada simply for being able to perform this manoeuvre by myself. It's
easier with two people.

Also, if the driver happens to be a tall person, hey Bill talking about you
here, the bar will take up some valuable space. I happen to be short and this
gives me no problem, but most of my friends are not able to drive the car for
there's not enough leg space and the seat can not pushed back far enough
because the roll bar prevents this.
But, having said all of this, I love my roll-over bar. It gives me at least
the feeling of some safety and it looks COOL...........:-) Who needs the top
up anyhow.....just drive through the rain...............
Cheers

this morning. No, Jim Gambony, no need to tell us any more about tropical
conditions..........ha ha....

  Greetings, Fellow Listers.

I've been thinking about putting a roll bar in the Spit. Has anyone ever
seen an "adjustable" bar? I'm tall enough that if the car rolled, a street
bar would hit the ground at the same time as my head. Sounds rather
painful! So, a taller bar would be good. However, I'd also like to use my
soft top without all sorts of funky modifications. Perhaps something using
  telescoping tubing?

As always, thanks for your input.
