I'll add that Rimmer has an adapter kit that will allow the flywheel
with larger holes to be used with a cranl that has smaller holes.
Basically, it is a set of bolts and sleeves that fill up the gaps.

I know this one! The 73-74 is the one you need. I was in this same 
situation last year. The 73-74 has the right bolt holes to match up to
the 
1296, and the right diameter clutch to match up to the later gearbox. 
Though I can't remember if it is flat or not.

If you have a 1296 with a 1500 flywheel, you really should check that
you 
have the correct bolts - small bolts in big holes will eventually result
in 
a broken crank - I found this out the $$$$ way with my car.
