Cheers! The old one had a shred but that was at the throttle end so im not sure 
what had caused that, it wasn't when I owned it! I think there may be an 
alignment problem so I will have a look. The weather here at the moment means 
you don't want to do too much on the car! I put a new bumper on at the weekend 
and I thought my hands were going to fall off! Thanks for your help and I will 
let you know if I solve it!

It could well be that something is out of alignment at the pedal end.  Take a 
flashlight
and jam your head where your feet normally go and have a look.  The cable 
should NOT
have to bend as it travels from the end of its sleeve at the firewall to the 
end of the pedal lever.
If there is any friction or grinding it will soon break.

Whatever caused the old cable to break may quickly ruin the new one, too.
