Well, actually "what a racing cam can do" is fairly limited,
but the stories people can tell about them can be anything but!

Apparently your 0-60 time has gone from 17 seconds to
what, under 10? So, perhaps that cam added, 100hp? Now
giving you 150hp per liter? No need to buy that Honda
S2000 anymore.

Realism is fleeting, even the 1500 midgets are competing
on about even terms with Dodge Caravans when it comes
to straight acceleration.

I love my Midget. It corners well, and the sensation
of speed is very high. However, in stoplight drag
racing, it's a non-starter. I am not exaggerating when
I say that minivans, SUVs, family wagons, really anything
else on the road will COMPLETELY take it to the
cleaners.

There is a lady on the Spitfires list that claims her
mechanic squeezes 150hp out of her 1500, although with
no specific modifications that she can state. Just wait
until I find that mechanic and we'll have a real race!

There's also a guy on the Triumphs list that insists
his TR6 with stock engine can do 0-60 in under 6
seconds, and when asked his reply is "I've timed it
personall so quit giving me flack about it". Stock on that
car is just under 12 seconds.

Go to a track one day and observe how much must go
into a car to reduce it's 0-60 or quarter mile times
by 10 or 20%. Keep that in mind when you see claims
of magic on the lists.

Again, it's a matter of realism. Spridgets are slow,
although the 1500s much less so. ;>

Just because it's rare doesn't mean anybody wants it.
