There is another good reason for putting an electric fan behind the
radiator - if it will fit of course.
Much of the time on the "open road" there is actually no need for a fan on a
Spridget  - normal airflow through the radiator caused from the forward
movement of the car is sufficient.  Only when under heavy load like
prolonged hill climbing, or when stuck in traffic does it need the fan
assist to increase the radiator air fow.

This normal airflow is obstructed by the fan in front of the radiator, but
with the fan behind the rad, this airflow is hardly impeded and the fan will
only come on when called for by the thermostat.
