I think that's technically true out here too, but I've never run into a
problem with mufflers. I had them put a glass pack on my CRX when it was
fairly new because I couldn't hear the engine, and on the freeway I couldn't
tell the difference between 3rd, 4th, & 5th, without looking at the tach.
It's passed many smog tests since then without a problem. I think as long as
you don't ask them to remove the converter, nobody cares.
