Tank was originally rebuilt by Renuzit which probably coated the interior =
with something, but that was over 20 years ago.=C2=A0 Fuel filter looks fin=
e.=C2=A0 It is one of the clear plastic VW type filters.=C2=A0 I can't see =
anything from the outside of the filter, but that does not mean it is not p=
lugged.=C2=A0 Yes, I have tried running the fuel pump with the gas cap off =
and it was still cavitating.=C2=A0 It only started pumping again after I di=
sconnected the fuel line from the filter near the carb.=C2=A0 Today I am go=
ing to disconnect the fuel line on the other side of the filter and try it =
again.=C2=A0 Also going to lift the rear of the car and check the fuel line=
from the pump to the tank.=C2=A0 Maybe ethanol has done it's damage to the=
 rubber line.=C2=A0=20

I have more questions than answers right now:
... Was this tank ever sealed with a chemical fuel tank sealer?
... How does the fuel filter look?
... Have you tried running the engine with the fuel tank cap removed?
