For replacement carbs Holley makes two 2bl carbs, one is 350cfm and
the other is 500cfm. The 350cfm is a one for one swap but the 500cfm
will make you remove the spacer plate or enlarge the throttle plate
holes in the spacer. I considered a Holley 2bl on my Tiger until I
saw the prices. A 4bl carb costs the same or less in some cases.
Instead of the 2bl, I bought a Edelbrock 289 performer manifold and
their 4bl 600cfm carb with electric choke for a total of $340. The
new manifold and 4bl carb are supposed to give increased h.p. and
torque from idle to 5500 rpm. Edelbrock makes a high rise performer
manifold with more h.p. and torque from 1500 to 6500 rpm but I have
the stock cam and was worried about hood clearance. I haven't
installed it yet since it is too cold in my garage.

Mine is stuck in the "UP" position. Hey, hey, hey -- this IS about Tigers. I'm
referring to float valve in my carburetor (gosh, you can't be too careful, can
you?).

The carburetor is original -- I confess I don't know what make or model. I just
drive it, I don't explain it. Anyway, the float valve occasionally sticks, the
fuel bowl empties, and the engine stops. Not too good.

I've messed about with it a bit, and realized slight improvement. I'm looking
out for suggestions on how to correct the problem _and_ suggestions for
carburetor replacement. Assuming both routes can resolve the problem, which is
the better option?

(Norm, I _will_ get info for the registry soon after I get the machine out of
storage.)
