Joe,

The original Holley was a 1848-1 465 CFM 4 barrel with hot air choke included.
It
is still being made new, by Holley, and last I heard Sunbeam Specialties could
get
them. You might also try a Holley automotive supply specialist in your area.

There were some 1850-1 carbs offered, I think in the Mk II era, but they are too
much for a 260, and will soggy and bog on acceleration from lack of velocity.
The
current universal 600 CFM (non -smog jetting), manual choke will fit but, as
noted
below, is probably to large.

A 500 CFM Edelbrock is made, and runs pretty sweet. All these carbs are side
pivot float bowls, so could be a problem in Auto-X or multi-turn racing. For
that
you need the center-pivot float bowls, for which conversion kits are available
for
the Holley.

One problem with the original 1850-1 is that there is no provision for a PCV
input, and the ported riser block will not fit a high rise manifold. The TIGER
lettered ones were low rise, and used a spacer, the Edelbrock F4B's are high
rise,
and even with a 1/4 inch Boss 302 plate, there is not enough room with a stock
hood.

I replaced the bottom throttle plate with one from a 600 CFM carb that has the
port built in. There is some small adjusting to do with the choke idle adjust
screw linkage plate, but it otherwise is a bolt-on and works well. The price for
this separate piece (new) is about $100, but was only $35 2 years ago. Probably
can be gotten used from a rebuild shop, but watch out for worn throttle shafts.
