This is a great discussion. I have a friend (owns a place called Mustang 
Ranch) that races (straight line) a 1965 Mustang. The car is set up and runs in 
the low eights. He was unhappy with certain performance characteristics and 
made 
some changes. Fed all data into the computer model with an expected top end 
not above 155 and the program pumped out the ratios that would meet the 
parameters he set. Made the changes and guess what? Car went 177 not 155. 
Brings me 
to the point, forget the program and put them on the track to get a better 
estimation and verification of theory. Or, don't trust computers or the seat of 
your pants.
