Don't forget that the headers weigh about half as much as the cast
manifolds. Less is more....
To answer the other query about Doug Sr's comments at SUNI, he wasn't too
specific other than that Allen head header bolts made the headers harder to
remove. I can think of several reasons why: The internal hex is not
necessarily the same on all header bolts, and unless you have the right
size, you're just going to wreck stuff. A right-angle Allen key is possibly
too long to get in there and wrench with, and an Allen socket extension may
not help for all bolts either. The smooth outside of the bolt head makes it
hard to turn them by hand, so unless you can wrench them effectively it's a
very slow process for getting the bolts installed. Lastly, the fact that
standard Allen head bolts have a smaller shoulder than header bolts might
mean that they'll be more likely to distort the header flange if they're
overtightened. Using a grade 8 washer would help this, but most people don't
put washers behind their header bolts.
