Shane;

I got a repalcement dash for my GT6+ from Vicki Brit and I have to agree with
your assessment. They are darker and uglier. My original dash was water
damaged and even though I tried to sand it down and refinish it there was
just no saving it. The English walnut veneer was so thin it was impossible to
sand the finish without going through the edges of the veneer. So, I sprung
for a new dash and received a solid walnut dash made from American Black
Walnut. The quality was very good. The holes aligned perfectly and the GT6
dash has a lot of holes. But it just doesn't look like the original! Someday
I hope to find a reproduction that matches or figure out a way to get some
English Walnut veneer and make my own. I'm in the wood working business so
that shouldn't be so hard. I can't imagine that these repro dashes are
sanctioned and approved by The British Motor Heritage. Caveat Emptor
