For all of you that didn't get to attend the VTR National Meet in Ft.
Worth, you missed a good time.
It was hot and muggy but I think everyone that attended enjoyed it.
There was a lot of elbow grease used up on on cars applying polish. I
forgot that there was a underside side to my car that needed to be
cleaned but I'm a little lazy anyway. I learned a lot I needed to know
about concourse events. Oh well maybe next year I can bribe the wife to
clean there for me if I let her go with me to the VTR Nationals in
Minnesota (actually I hope she lets me go).
We had some good tech sessions and driving events. Thanks to Bill Wood
acting as my navigator we won the funkana event. I think I do well
driving with a blindfold and Bill as a navigator. Thanks Bill!
Being relatively new to Triumphs (or reintroduced after a 35 year
absence) I discovered one event I liked a lot. AUTOCROSSING - It's
great! I'm a hotrodder at heart anyway. I got so involved on one run
that I went around the figure eight twice and forgot where I was. I gave
everyone a good show that time with my power slide. God it's fun!!! I
must have butned 20,000mi worth of rubber off the tires. I still didn't
win that TR8 event even after I got my head on straight the last run.
Bill Wood took 1st place - Congratulations again Bill!.
I met lots of good people I hope to see again at other events and saw
lots of beautiful Triumphs. It makes me wonder if my sleeping TR6 will
ever look like even the worst of the cars there (there wern't any bad
ones). I saw a few that were so perfect and looked like they had been
through the production line quality control a couple of times and had
never hit the street. My favorite was a Triumph Gloria Southern Cross -
What a beautiful car I believe it was a 1937 model.
I guess some of the others that went will post more on the event. I'm a
little senile and can't remember names and all the happenings that went
on.
