Larry,
In deference to the Spit, I would recommend getting a 2-wheel tilt-bed
car trailer.  It will relieve you of any worry regarding something going
wrong.  Anytime the drive wheels are on the ground and moving, the
differential, the transmission, and the driveshaft are spinning.  Not to
mention the axle shafts and all associated bearings.

If, God forbid, you fotgot to take the car out of gear, you might not
realize it with the power of some motor homes.  If you can afford the
trailer, that's the best way to go.
