Yeah, and gasoline was 25 cents a gallon too (maybe less...memory
fades)! By the way, they didn't have Spit pricing, but they did have the
following editorial comment...

"Obviously aimed at the Sprite and MG Midget market, Standard-Triumph's
latest is an 1170 cc job based on the Herald. It goes well and stops
well, is quite attractive. Passenger and luggage compartments are roomy.
Detail finish, however, leaves a lot to be desired. It's exceptionally
maneuverable as long as you don't attempt tricks at too high a speed.
Then, the poorly-set swing-axle rear takes on adverse geometrics that
would try the talents of a Grade One driver, especially in the wet. It
should be possible to correct this, however, by de-cambering the rear
and experimenting with tire pressure."
