Spot Welding

Hi All, 

I've recently acquired a spot welder. This is a Sealey SR12, with
separate transformer/timer box. I've restored it and it's working but
it's not quite right. 
Anybody got any experience of using one of these, or any theoretical
knowledge? if so, I'd appreciate a reply so we can talk.
