Successfully completed the trip to Carrolton KY with no tire or other
problems.

The car show was pretty informal and there was an assortment of early to
late Triumphs as well as a large number of MG's (of all types) and
number of Healey's and a few Jag's, one Lotus. Maybe 75 cars in all.

The TR6 group was lumped in with the TR7 & TR8 category. There were a
couple TR7's, no TR8's and about 6 TR6's. I won 2nd place behind a
better than new TR7 restoration. The engine compartment paint on the
winning TR7 was as perfect as the rest of the car. My car drew some
interest because of the low miles (turned 7,000 on the trip) and its
originality.

The show as pretty laid back more fun than competitive. One big
surprise was the lack of redline tires. I was under the assumption,
with my limited experience with these cars, that redlines were the norm.
There were only 1 or 2 other cars in the show with redlines. I am
becoming more interested in keeping a second set of tires and rims but
the cost is somewhat prohibitive. I guess I'll start looking for a set
of steel rims or maybe second had panasports.

That pretty well hits the highlights, I won't bore you with any more.

Depending on the show there may be both a concours and a
participants
section. The concours is usually only at big shows and
they judge on a point
system....... and cleanliness is important. Most of us
only enter the
participants section, which is included with your entry
fee. In this,
anything can happen as each of us votes based on what we
like. Some people
only vote for cars that are 100% original while others
vote for what they
like. My car is not original....... I improve it based
on what I like. I've
taken home awards from some shows and none from
others....... where the
original cars won. I also put about 5000 miles a year on
my car and use it
in good weather as a daily driver so there will always
be dirt somewhere! Go
and have fun. Let us know how you make out.
