Scions,

I've resolved my M/C problem. As you may recall, I ordered a new Girling
M/C from a non-big three vendor. I had difficulty in threading my reservoir
side fitting into the M/C. I thought I had a larger fitting because the
thread on my brake line wouldn't engage the M/C. What was in the car
previously, wasn't Girling M/C's, but PBR brand, the Australian Girling
licensee. The vendor, TrueChoice, checked his stock and had no difficulty
in threading a 7/16-20 bolt into the hole. I couldn't get my tap to thread
in by hand (I didn't want to modify the part in case I had to return it), so
I bought a 7/16-20 nut and bolt. My fitting and both M/C's were 7/16-20,
but the new Girling M/C thread was a little tight and my fitting was a
little big. I ran my die over the fitting, and re-tapped the hole, then
pulled the M/C apart to clean and reassemble it (aluminum chips from the
re-tapping). Situation resolved.

The bottom line. I received off line responses from two listers who have
also used TrueChoice's inexpensive ($65) 0.75 bore Girling M/C without
incident. TrueChoice checked their stock and didn't have this problem
either. I feel it is safe to assume that this was an isolated case. Keep
in mind though, these M/C's come with a push rod which is 1.25 inches too
short, so you'll need to swap in your old one. Also, there is a sailfin
between the two ports on this M/C, so it doesn't look exactly like the OEM
part, but for me neither of these was of any significant concern when you
compare the $65 price versus the $100+ of the big three or resleeving.

TrueChoice (800-388-8783 or http://www.truechoice.com) worked with me all
the way and was very supportive. I am happy with them.

Thanks to all those who helped out,

Jack Brooks
