could hardly wait for the dashpot oil thread to return!

Two things since last years lengthy thread about '3-in-1 Brand' blue can (20
wt) and
red can (10 wt).

The TR4 & TR4A Factory Manual states;

Recommended Lubricants:
bBRITISH ISLES (All seasons)b
Carburettor Dashpots
use 30 wt in Summer and 20 wt in Winter

bOVERSEAS COUNTRIESb
Carburettor Dashpots
use appropriate current 'single grade' engine oil

what they recommend for the Engine is;

Air Temp (F.) Oil to use multi-vis

Over  70            S.A.E. 40 W       or  20/40 or 20/50
 40  - 70            S.A.E. 30 W       or 10/30 or 20/40 or 20/50
 10  - 40            S.A.E. 20 W       or 10/30
Below 10            S.A.E. 10 W

So I plan to use straight 30 wt in my carb dashpots year round as I will
drive the car mostly in 40 to 80 F weather.

Last time my car was running I tried thicker dashpot oil (30wt) and the car
seemed to have more power on opening the throttle (due to restricted air
intake from slower raising piston resulting in a momentary richer mixture and
more power.
When I went back to the thinner 20 wt oil in the dampers it was not as
'gutsy' feeling.
