With regard to Webers on your TR4 - Based on my own experience and previous
go-round on this list, I'd expect the consensus of opinion to be:
1) Just adding Webers isn't going to provide much extra grunt, without
changes to compression ratio, a performance cam, an exhaust header and
cylinder head work (among other things).
2) Webers are highly adjustable, but the primary adjustments are made by
replacing parts, not by turning screws. Tuning them requires not only skill
but access to an adequate selection of spares. But, once set up properly,
Webers will stay in tune for a LONG time (absent a substantial change in
prevailing altitude or weather). Subsequent "tune-ups" are mostly a matter
of keeping them clean and not leaking, and synchronizing idle speed.
3) Webers are expensive (you knew that). It's also not cheap to have them
set up by an expert, but that may be preferable to spending a lot of time
learning, experimenting, changing out parts and buying spares that you'll
probably never need again.
4) Webers look cool. Very cool.
