As many of you may know I just went into Toronto to try and start a 15
year parked '72 GT6. I almost succeeded. After preparing the motor to turn
over I cleaned off the plugs with a wire brush (which were still oily from
when it was prepared for parking) and held them against the head to see for
spark. There was nothing. I didn't have a circuit checker so I cut some wire
and touched it from the coil input to the points, rotor and the coil-to-points
ground output all with small sparks. Being an idiot I then touched it to the
coil-to-rotor outputs and there wasn't a thing. My understanding is that the
coil converts the input power to approx 10,000 volts and I should have blown
myself up.

My question for the list is this... Is the coil supposed to spark
between the coil input and the coil output? Enough to cause me some harm?
Does it sound like the coil is shot? If so, what power is the coil for a 1972
MK3 GT6, and how much would one cost in Canada? If not, what would you
suggest to look for? How much to fix?

I also have another question for the infinitely wise list. I didn't
even get started on the fuel system. If I can get the spark how do I find out
if the carbs are providing enough fuel? Should I check anything else?
Gaskets? Seals?

Any suggestions the list has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
                                            Rave
