I guess you could blame the carb I sent you. <G>

That starting difficulty could be the starter switch, itself. I had a
similar situation on my MG. The contact that feeds power to the coil was
not making good contact when the key was in the "Start" position. On the
other hand, if you have a late model TR6 (I forget what year car you have)
there is an aux 12 volt feed to the coil (that bypasses the ballast
resistor, but we are straying off topic) that would let it start anyway.

Anyway, here's a test: with the engine warm, remove the ari cleaner.
Restart the engine and using a 3/32 drill bit gently lift the piston enough
to pass the drill bit through the venturi. Does the engine speed a) speed
up, b) remain the sameor c) slowdown. If the answer is a) you are too
rich. If it is c) you are too lean. If it is b) you are about right.
(Note: the book procedure involves adjusting the mixture with the
assistance of a CO meter. Since you are in rural Quibec and are probably
not subject to emissions screening you can skip this part but you need to
be fairly close)

If the answer is b) then your mixture is close enough that it is not
causing this problem and something else is. And I don't have a clue.
(well, nothing comes to mind)

Bon chance

Dave
