O.K. you asked. . .In my humble opinion, not the best of ideas
Unless your also planing to replace the tranny with a TR6 (difficult at
best) or replace GT6 trannys quite often, then don't use a 2.5. The added
strain on the GT6 tranny will destroy it in short order. It's already
strained with the 2 liter - Not only that, the 2.5 lump is not as smooth
running and won't rev as high as the 2 liter (no offence mind you and not
knocking youTR6 guys but drive a good running GT6 and you'll know what I
mean). The 2 liter is a better all around balanced engine and it's not
quite as simple as just changing cranks and rods. The oil pan from the GT6
has to be used, but dimpled in the rod area to clear the longer stroke of
the 2.5. And why go to HS6s? The stock Strombergs will breath plenty for
this engine. Kas Kastner got amazing horsepower from the pair of 150's
besides, the SU's damper housing will most likely hit the bonnet at the
front unless you make a clearance bulge because they are considerably
taller than the Strombergs -
