My dad was more or less the opposite. He really enjoyed cars (and knew less
than nothing about them or how to fix them), although his various jobs never
involved cars other than driving to and from work and the occasional business
trip.

One such trip, many years ago, involved utilizing to the fullest the
"wagon-like" load capacity of the Triumph 10 sedan with its fold-down back
seat and
resulting long load area. He worked for W. & L.E. Gurley, maker of surveying
and
other precision instruments, and delivered something (never did know what,
but I was only 5 and didn't really care) in long wooden boxes to someplace in
New Hampshire from the Troy/Albany, NY, area. They fit very nicely inside that
little car.

Sadly, I know for a fact that car, his first Triumph, was scrapped and
crushed many, many years ago. Fortunately, I still have the '64 Herald 1200
convertible...his second car. Likely one or both of my children will get to
enjoy that
car as third-generation owner/drivers!

Oh, and my kids LOVE the local car cruises and the occasional British Car
Show!

*Mrs Irrelevant: Oh, is it a jet?
*Man: Well, no ... It's not so much of a jet, it's more your, er,
 Triumph Herald engine with wings.
