I've seen a lot of people reference this so-called "study", however, I
would point out that it is not scientific and most conclusions that are
drawn are the author's own opinions and are not based on any actual
evidence of the efficiency of the filter to do it's intended job. The
author fails to note that the filter manufacturers warrant your engine
while that filter is on the car.( Or perhaps he did not know). The specs
for an oil filter are promulgated by the auto manufacturers and are
followed by the filter boys. Does it surprise anyone that they all use the
cheapest material possible?
I can give you loads of anecdotal evidence gleaned from 17 years of
experience in the pits, having put about 750,000 filters on cars.
You are correct sir, if it does the job, then why spend 5 times the price
for a 'better' filter?
