It's a long story ... basically there are a group of people who enjoy
tracking the movement of train cars and locomotives, known as
"trainspotters". In the UK, where it rains frequently, these people always
wear anoraks (so the legend goes) while watching train movements and so the
term anorak has come to be applied to anyone who tracks mind-numbing minutia
... like what color the license plate lamp on a TR3 should be.

PS Thanks for the info about Casper. I think that indicates the rear apron
has been replaced at some point, but obviously it's not certain.
